Coloured cobs are powerful horses with a full mane, strong feathering, a short back and large hooves. The typical piebald coat pattern was deliberately bred into the horses around the year 1900. They also have a magnificent mane, a full tail and lots of hair on the fetlocks. They were first called "Magpies".
