Quilling has been around for hundreds of years. The art of rolling or coiling and shaping small strips of paper to create a pattern or design dates back to Egyptian times. Sources say that during the Renaissance, nuns and monks would roll gold-gilded paper remnants trimmed during the bookmaking process, and use them to decorate religious objects as an alternative to costly gold filigree. In later centuries the art of Quilling became a favorite pastime for European ladies who would decorate household items with the quilling techniques.
The art got its name due to use of bird’s feathers (quill) to coil the paper upon, and found its way to America with the pilgrims. Today quilling is still practiced throughout the globe as an art form.
Our cards are all handcrafted in Vietnam by artists who practice the skill and joy of creating three-dimensional greeting cards.
